          EXPERIENCE:

This module was quite heavy for me but at the same time there were
times where I saw it as a break from other assignments, weirdly
enough. I am not taking back the fact that it is tiring, of course,
but I treated it as one of those subjects where it is a “break” from
art, even if I had to write long paragraphs and read even longer
paragraphs during that “break”. I have always wanted to do extensive
research on a topic, any topic as long as it interests me, so this
was a good opportunity to start. However, I am worried that Design
Research Dissertation will take a bigger toll on me as the things I
have heard of that module are quite something. Although, despite the
intimidation of the module, I am somewhat excited to start Design
Research Dissertation even if I know it would most likely be even
more tedious and tiring than this module, similar to Typography and
Advanced Typography. However, similar to how the assignments in
Advanced Typography were more exciting than Typography, I am sure
Design Research Dissertation will be similar in that way, at least
more flexible in the sense. Moreover, I really wanted to include
something regarding the Odyssey in Design Research Methodology but
was unable to so I am hoping I will be able to do that in my
dissertation, with the Iliad as a bonus if possible.

          OBSERVATION:

This whole module was confusing at times to the point where
whenever I ask my friends something, chances are they do not know
either. I do not think this is the fault of the lecturer or module
itself, however, I am pretty sure it is merely due to how hectic the
time was, especially combined with other assignments that needed our
attention, both core and MPU subjects, which at times made it feel
never-ending. However, what kept me going (at least for this module)
was in fact the work of my peers and seniors because I had the
thought of “if they can do it, why can’t I do it?”. In a motivating
way obviously, not a self-deprecating way. Especially with a topic
related to character design, I should be able to pull something out,
considering it is the entire theme of why I wanted to go into art
and design as a living. Thankfully, I did manage to complete
everything and I admit that had I not watched that one specific
movie named Nimona back in 2023, I would have a completely different
topic as to what I would do for Design Research Methodology while
            still relating to character design.

          FINDINGS:

When looking for research articles to reference, I found there was
a lack of research based on movies that use shape language to move a
narrative either subtly or obviously such as Nimona through the eye
shines. I would love to one day find an animated film I truly like
and do extensive research solely based on that specific film,
especially if it has a historical origin such as mythology that you
can branch into as a rabbit hole.
