IDEA DEVELOPMENT:
  • BIOGRAPHY
My name is Dhina and I’m a local student in the first semester of degree. I often have a flannel on with the same sweet drink in hand. The course is mostly fun with a variety of subjects and themes to explore with, which makes the assignments enjoyable. I enjoy stories, especially the ones that dabble in mythology and folklore or even just fantasy. I would even try to include it in a lot of my assignments, either directly or not. The many cartoons I’ve watched throughout my childhood and even now motivates me to pursue art, specifically art in entertainment. The idea of bringing characters to life either through visuals, writing or even music is exciting. For this assignment, my idea is surrealism that combines elements from the land, sea and sky, integrating them onto the person.
  • WORK STATEMENT
Surrealism that uses the main subject (and/or the world around them) as a canvas for many different elements. Stories come from people, at first through word of mouth then later on continuing with written text. People come up with stories for the most common things, even if it's just a rock or a tree.

Message: You and your surroundings are full of life, literally and figuratively. All you have to do is look.

Quote: To live will be an adventure

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Google defines encompass as “surround and have or hold within”. In this case, I wanted to show that everything is encompassed with its own history and source of motivation to others. Some may find inspiration in the sea to pursue one goal and others the sky to pursue another. All you have to do is truly look around.

I added drawn elements to my composition to emphasise the importance of art in its many form when it comes to humanity and preserving its contents. This can be art through visuals, stories using word of mouth or even music that fills time with essence and proof of life.

As for the animation, minimal effects were added to replicate how their real life counterparts would react/behave in a normal day.
