EXERCISE [TUTORIAL/PRACTICAL]
AFTER EFFECTS EXERCISE
This exercise was done to familiarise ourselves with Adobe After Effects, which would later be used for the final project. Mr. Fauzi provided a Photoshop file of a digital collage from previous activities as a simple base.
He also suggested we toggle a button setting that allows only certain layers visible to prevent feeling overwhelmed with the amount of elements.

I started with the two circles. I changed their rotation and size followed by positioning to the placement of the other. This was done by adjusting rotation, scale and position.
Afterwards, I decided to play around with the fish using opacity, position and scale.

Finally, I returned everything to its original position to create a loop. This was made easily by copy pasting the settings.

FINAL RESULT
QUOTE OF THE DAY POSTER
RESEARCH: WEEK 9
IDEATION
SKETCH: WEEK 9
PROCESS
Once I had the sketch ready, I started cropping out a photo of myself using the method taught by Mr. Fauzi.

Initially, I tried following the sketch 100% using different photos of rocks from holiday trips. However, the result was unsatisfactory and I decided to scrap it altogether. Then, I thought of creating a scene using different images, which produced better results.

I also reduced saturation to better see the values so it would work together.
I ended up with a lot of trial and error to get the composition right. This involved using different photos, opacity and blending modes as well as the use of brushes.

FINAL OUTCOME
This quote was chosen partially due to its origin (Peter Pan) and how it can give a sense of wonder to people. A common question that came to mind when this quote popped up was “you’re alive, but are you living?” which produces complicated answers. The idea of adventure itself varies from one to another and my interpretation of the word involves more nature. I tried to convey all of these statements, including a nod to its fictional source, by using reflection and imagination.
REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE: I have to admit, this assignment tested a lot of my patience and while the end product could definitely be further improved, I am overall satisfied. It had both fun and challenging parts that made the task worthwhile and what surprised me was the collaboration of two different modules. While it made the documentation and feedback slightly more difficult, it was also an interesting experience and the workload is somewhat reduced compared to making two different posters.
OBSERVATION: Due to this assignment starting during independent learning week, a lot of the feedback was given online either through Google Classroom or online consultation. While this made it takes a while to get a response, the feedbacks still manage to help me move forward with my progress.
FINDINGS: While finding references, I found many different styles and interpretation of the same quote. While it was not the quote I had in mind, it helped me understand different ways of delivering a message, similar to the same story having multiple narratives and perspectives.
